Our Approach:
Biblically-focused counseling. We believe that God is the only one who is wise and good. All that He says is true! His words heal (Psalm 19:7) and bring light to our darkness (1 John 1:5). The one thing we ask of those considering to receive counseling from us is that you must weigh the cost of entering this process. God is always patient and He asks much of those who listen to Him.
A Christ-Centered approach to counseling. As Jesus Christ came to sympathize with us, we seek to example this same kind of sympathy for the trouble one is facing. We seek to take a personal interest in you, ultimately pointing you to the one who is The Great Physician.
We believe life in the body really matters. There are times in which we experience complex issues (suffering) in [1] our own bodies and [2] in our relationships with other people. At times this introduces significant confusion between where the human body and the human soul. We seek to consider both aspects of your story.
We will meet you where you are today. Just as God is patient and compassionate with us, our counselors strive to be quick to listen and slow to speak. It takes time to learn one’s context and we consider the weight of what you share with us and hope to respond with wisdom.
Prayer and asking for support from others is a vital part of the counseling process. A counselor cannot change you but our God is a god who works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). In grief, pain, and confession, we encourage counselees to ask God and those closest to them for help.
Our counselors hold to a historical confession of faith. We stand on the shoulders of our forefathers and keep our team of counselors devoted to the reformed, confessional Christian faith (e.g. the Three Forms of Unity, Westminster Confession of Faith, or the London Baptist Confession).
We’re hopeful and seek to turn what is discussed in counseling towards action. We believe that God is sanctifying each of us and redeeming our world. These things make us optimistic, even when one’s experience may feel more like long-suffering. We will often wrap up each meeting with homework related to your journey.
